Math History Made! An AI Just Cracked One of the Hardest Problems in the World

Here’s the amazing part: it took the AI just 88 hours to find the answer. That’s less than four days. Humans had been working on this for roughly 90 years without success.

The AI used a special new model — one that has not been released to the public yet. It also used 10,000 AI “agents” working together at the same time. Think of it like 10,000 students all working on the same math test simultaneously, sharing notes with each other.

The answer was also checked using a computer program called Lean, which is like a math spell-checker. It confirmed that the proof was correct.

OpenAI said it does not plan to claim the $1 million prize. Instead, the company shared the result to show how powerful its AI has become.

The Navier-Stokes equations are not just a puzzle. Scientists use them every day. They help engineers design safer airplanes. They help weather forecasters predict storms. They help doctors understand how blood flows through the heart.
