Quick Summary
Some of the best young baseball players in the United States are competing right now! Regional semi-finals in the 2026 Little League Baseball tournament are being played today, August 10. The winners will move on to the championship โ and eventually to the famous Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
What Happened?
Every summer, thousands of Little League teams from all over the United States โ and countries around the world โ begin competing for a spot in the most famous youth baseball tournament on the planet: the Little League Baseball World Series.
Before a team can get to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the World Series, it has to win its region. The United States is divided into several regions, including New England, Southeast, Southwest, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, and more. Right now, those regional tournaments are in their final days.
Today, Monday August 10, regional semi-final games are being played in multiple cities at once. Teams are playing in Bristol, Connecticut; Warner Robins, Georgia; Waco, Texas; Whitestown, Indiana; and other locations around the country. Every game is live on ESPN throughout the day.
The regional champions will be crowned by August 14. Those winners will then travel to South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where the full Little League World Series tournament begins on August 19 and runs through August 30.
Twenty teams total will compete at the World Series โ ten from the United States and ten from countries around the world, including teams from Latin America, Asia, Europe, and beyond.
Last year, a team from Chinese Taipei won the championship. This yearโs field is still being decided โ right now, today, on fields across America.
The Little League World Series has been running since 1947. That is 79 years of kids chasing a baseball dream!
What makes Little League special is the players. These are kids ages 10 to 12. Most of them have been playing baseball since they could first hold a bat. For them, making it to Williamsport is one of the biggest moments of their young lives.
Why Does It Matter?
The Little League World Series is one of the most-watched youth sporting events in the world. Every year it reminds people that sports are about teamwork, practice, heart, and fun โ not just winning.

And for fans young and old, there is something magical about watching 12-year-olds give everything they have got to a sport they love.
